1. New Delhi, November 4: Delhi University (DU) on Saturday honoured Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, cartoonist R K Laxman and prominent scientist C N R Rao with honorary degrees.

2. C N R Rao, Linus Pauling research professor, has been conferred the title "chevalier de la legion D‘Honneur" (knight of the legion of honour) by France, the highest civilian award given by that country.

4. Bangalore, August 18: Eminent scientist C N R Rao expressed dismay over ‘distorted’ growth of Bangalore, primarily driven by the IT sector, terming the city ‘disgusting and terrible’. "Sudden explosion of industries in Bangalore has given rise to distorted priority", Rao, a long–time resident of Bangalore, termed by many as silicon valley of India and garden city, lamented at a function in Bangalore.
